School of Water Polo - Beginner âª
The goal of the Beginner SWP Team is to establish a solid base of general in-water movements that are essential to water polo. These include eggbeater, swim technique, swim conditioning and ball control. Athletes will be evaluated on a regular basis to gauge their success in the areas below. Once all areas are successfully accomplished, athletes will move up to 10u water polo. Requirements for Completion of School of WP â Beginner: Water Coordination: Eggbeater and Mobility 10 second Eggbeat â 180 degree turn â 10 second Eggbeat 10 second Eggbeat â 360 degree turn â 10 second Eggbeat Swim Technique: Freestyle Arms + Flutterkick Breaststroke Arm + BR Kick Backstroke Arms + Flutterkick Butterfly Arms + BR Kick Condition Technique: 2 laps without stopping: Backstroke Breaststroke Freestyle Sprint Freestyle 25 yards in 30 seconds Ball Control: Picking up a ball left-to-right Holding a ball w/elbow out of the water Throwing a ball a minimum of 2 meters

These include eggbeater, swim technique, swim conditioning and ball control. Athletes will be evaluated on a regular basis to gauge their success in the areas below. Once all areas are successfully accomplished, athletes will move up to 12u or 14u water polo. Requirements for Completion of School of WP â Intermediate: Water Coordination: Eggbeater Hips Down Eggbeater Hips Up Scull + Kick Lunges Swim Technique: Freestyle Arms + Flutterkick Breaststroke Arm + BR Kick Backstroke Arms + Flutterkick Butterfly Arms + BR Kick Condition Technique: 200 Freestyle under 4:00 100 BR / FL / BK under 2:30 Sprint Freestyle 25 yards in 20 seconds Ball Control: Picking up a ball left-to-right Sliding w/ elbow out Throwing minimum of 5m Catching the ball
